SHIFTS
This came out of one moment: eight years old, a quiet hallway, a father sitting down to say the sentence that split a life in two. It took twenty years to understand what happened next, and hundreds of conversations with strangers to see the pattern clearly enough to name it. Six phases. Not always in a straight line, not always at the same pace, but real enough that naming them removes the shame of thinking you're doing it wrong.
Stop
The rupture. Something happens that you didn't choose. Life as you knew it stops.
Hide
The drift. Avoidance, numbing, staying busy. Almost everyone recognizes themselves here. There's no timeline for it – this phase might last twenty days or twenty years, and duration isn't a measure of strength.
Identify
The reckoning. You finally see the pattern, and what the old way has already cost you. This is about clarity, not courage yet.
Face
The choice. The decision to meet the moment with presence instead of protection. It isn't heroic. It's usually just practical.
Transform
Integration. What you become on the other side. Quiet, not cinematic. A different way of moving through ordinary days.

The offering. Turning your own shift into something that helps someone else locate theirs. Doesn't have to be a podcast or a book – it can be one sentence to one person.
